"Donald Sultan: Flowers & Forms" on view through Nov. 1 at Rosenbaum Contemporary

September 9, 2025

“Donald Sultan: Flowers & Forms,” an exhibition of mixed media, sculpture, works on paper and limited edition prints, is on view through Nov. 1 at Rosenbaum Contemporary’s Boca Raton, Fla., gallery located at 150 Yamato Road. The exhibition can be viewed during regular gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sultan, an internationally recognized Pop artist who rose to prominence in the late 1970s as part of the “New Image” movement, is known for elevating the still-life tradition through the deconstruction of his subjects into basic forms. His paintings characteristically employ industrial materials such as enamel, roofing tar, aluminum, linoleum and spackle, pushing the boundaries of the medium. “Flowers & Forms” explores the contrast between Sultan's poppy and mimosa motifs and their realization through industrial materials completely at odds with the fragility and beauty of his subjects.

Sultan’s work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at museums including The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. His work can also be found in public collections around the world including The Art Institute of Chicago; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; the Australian National Gallery in Canberra, Australia; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, Japan; the Tate Gallery in London, England; and the Singapore Museum of Art. His commissions include “Absolut Sultan” for Absolut Vodka in 1999.
