I SHOT WARHOL, WESSELMANN, LICHTENSTEIN, ROSENQUIST & INDIANA: PHOTOGRAPHS BY ADELMAN & KENNEDY

 |  July 10, 2008– September 09, 2008

An exhibition of revealing and rare photographic images of five of the greatest American Pop Artists at the height of their careers by world-renowned photojournalist Bob Adelman (Life magazine, Esquire, People, New York, Harper's, New York Times Magazine and Paris Match) and William John Kennedy, freelance editorial and commercial photographer from New York.

Many Pop artists’ lives were intimately entwined with photography, and, photographic images of many Pop artists became highly sought-after artworks in their own rights, driving the career of numerous photographers in the 1960s and 70s.

Stepping back in time, candid shots of Pop artists Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist and Robert Indiana are seen in their studios, galleries, often in the creative process, images that offer intimate and revealing moments of introspection, experimentation and engagement with their work. These rare portraits resonate with the same creative energy each of these great artists brought to the world and are now seen as an important documents in the evolution of art history.
