Thomas Hartmann

Thomas Hartmann, born in 1950, studied at the College of Design in Bremen from 1974 to 1979. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and received many grants and prizes. The most important include serving as artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 1979 and the Villa Massimo in Rome from 1984 to 1985, the Overbeck Prize for Fine Arts in 1988 and the Art Prize for Artists of Dusseldorf in 1996. His works are featured in several public collections that include the New Museum (Weserburg Bremen), the Kunstmuseum and the Bradenburg Art Collections (Cottbus). Since 2005, he has been Professor of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg.
